133 foreign students started their studies at the University of Szeged in the second semester of the academic year 2021/22 under the frames of the ERASMUS+ programme.
The institution supported their integration with an Orientation Week held between 7 and 9 February. Students from 65 universities in 60 cities in 17 countries came to the University of Szeged through the ERASMUS+ programme. The largest number of students came from Spain, followed by French and Turkish students. Many students are also coming from Italy, Romania, Germany, Georgia, Portugal and the Netherlands, among other countries. 31 students will study at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Szeged, which is a popular destination for students.
Similar to each year, the institution holds an Orientation Week to help students integrate in their new environment. On 8 February 2022, the event organisers welcomed the students to the Rector's Building Ceremonial Hall, where Leona Kovács-Jerney, the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Education Officer and Tibor Zilahi, the Erasmus Institutional Programme Coordinator of the University of Szeged welcomed the students. The aim of the week is to help students from abroad to find their way around Szeged and the University of Szeged. The freshmen were informed by Ágnes Pető, the coordinator of the ERASMUS students from abroad, about - among other things - the use of Neptun, the enrolment and course registration process, and how to find a place to live.
The Erasmus Student Network Szeged has been supporting the integration of foreign students since 2003. Besides helping them with university administration, they also organise cultural activities for the students. “We organise pub nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, take students to museums and theatres. In short, we do everything we can to make them feel as comfortable as possible in their "new home", Szeged." - Said Júlia Pataki, Vice-President of ESN Szeged.
