The Faculty organised a scientific conference

The University of Szeged Faculty of Economics and Business Administration organised an online conference with the title The European Union’s contention in the reshaping global economy between 20-21 May 2021.

On the first day of the event, Dr. Péter Kovács, the Dean of our Faculty greeted the participants in his opening speech. Speakers of the plenary sessions joined the event from Belgium, Germany, Austria and Japan. On the first day, two leading European think tank researchers made an interesting and informative presentation; Zsolt Darvas (Bruegel) talked about the European cohesion and tools for economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis, and Richard Grieveson (WIIW: The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies) presented the economic situation in the Western Balkans on EU integration. On the second day, Yuan Zhija, a professor at Rissho University in Tokyo, outlined the peculiarities of China’s innovation catch-up in his exciting lecture.

 

The 72 section presentations covered a wide range of topics including: European and national policy responses, Industry 4.0 and challenges in Visegrad countries, New business models, Economic development and financial responses at the time of Covid-19, Health, food and well-being, Transport, energy and environment, Technological development and innovation policy, Digitization and employment, Changing business environment and financial responses, Macroeconomic policy responses and global economic relations.

Hungarian and international doctoral students discussed their presentations in separate sections. Doctoral students studying at a Hungarian university enriched the internationality of the conference by representing many countries from Azerbaijan through Bangladesh to Mongolia.
