Webinar on equal opportunities in higher education

University of Szeged and its partner in the EUGLOH Alliance, the Swedish Lund University organized a webinar about equal opportunities in higher education. The first panellist of the webinar was Zoltán Bajmócy, vice-dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. In his presentation, he talked about the so called “underrepresented groups”, and how to provide them equal opportunities at an inclusive campus.

On 19th January 2021 with the participation of more than 100 students of the EUGLOH Alliance, the University of Szeged and the Lund University organised and online seminar (webinar) about equal opportunities in higher education. One of the main goals of the Alliance is to form an international campus with unified and equal rights and opportunities for all students and staff.


The first panellist of the webinar was Zoltán Bajmócy, vice-dean for scientific affairs at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. In his presentation he introduced that inequalities in higher education may arise alongside several aspects, such as: disability, age, family background, income situation, gender, sexual orientation or identity, or ethnicity and religion. Than he depicted how to foster the emergence of an inclusive campus.

Several good practiced were presented at the webinar. We could listen to the introduction of the Christian Roma College of Szeged, or the juggling course of the University of Szeged’s Student Counselling Centre, which is designed to support students with learning difficulties. This was supplemented by the video messages of the students of EUGLOH universities. The participation of students with hearing impairment was assisted by sign language interpreters.
