ECOdemia Summer University 2016

This year the University of Szeged Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and Csongrád County’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry had organized together the usual Summer university exploring various economic topics.

The programs were open for everyone interested in economic matters and discussions. It lasted for 2 weeks, and we had four lectures.

On the first week we heard a lot about the previous and the current status of the Hungarian bank sector in a presentation by dr. Levente Kovács, the secretary general of the Hungarian Banking Association.

In his presentaion Sándor Nagy spoke about the limits and possibilities of Szeged’s urban innovation. He mostly talked about the local government’s new scope of duties.

On the second week we first had a lecture about how and where we can use our acquired knowledge after university from our teacher dr. Zoltán Bajmócy. He spoke about scientific publicasions and the factors that set back the stream of knowledge.

Our last presenter was Gergely Csapó, Managing Director of Rackhost. He spoke about the relevance of innovation not only in bussiness but in the health and sanitary sector too.

It was a very usefull two weeks with interesting and currently relevant topics. Our tradition keeps going: we will see each other next year with new presenters and new topics.

We continued our tradition of welcoming our newly admitted students to the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Business Administration and Management.

Under the guidance of Dr. Ildikó Pusztai-Varga, Director of International Affairs, and Melinda Kovács, International Relations Coordinator, the mentor team worked hard to make the freshmen’s transition as smooth as possible. The programs not only helped students become familiar with Szeged and university life but also strengthened the growing sense of community between mentors and first-year students.
