THE Impact Ranking

The University of Szeged among the best on THE Impact Ranking

Each year, Times Higher Education produces its Impact Rankings, based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.

In the latest ranking, the University of Szeged has been ranked first in the overall ranking and tied with two other Hungarian universities. In addition, it has achieved podium positions in all categories, and in ten of these categories it has also achieved first place among Hungarian institutions.

Launched in 2019, the THE Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education measures the third mission of the world's higher education institutions and assesses the economic, social and accountability impact of universities against the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. This year, the University of Szeged is ranked first in the overall THE ranking, tied with two other Hungarian universities, and 401st-600th in the international ranking

Although this year the number of ranked institutions has increased by about 300 (1406), SZTE's results in the 17 thematic rankings are still excellent. SZTE has maintained its international position in several categories. These include: poverty eradication, health and well-being, affordable and clean energy, industry, innovation and infrastructure, and peace, justice and strong institutions. At the international level, SZTE improved in several categories compared to last year's ranking, such as sustainable cities and communities. Meanwhile, it also performed strongly in the national field, finishing on the podium in all categories, with ten first, four second and three third places.

The outstanding results achieved in the rankings also demonstrate the University of Szeged's commitment to achieving the goals set by the United Nations, be it in the areas of education, research and service activities to enhance the well-being of the social environment, dissemination of knowledge, preservation of human, social, cultural and environmental values, social, economic and environmental responsibility, or the promotion of sustainable development.

We continued our tradition of welcoming our newly admitted students to the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Business Administration and Management.

Under the guidance of Dr. Ildikó Pusztai-Varga, Director of International Affairs, and Melinda Kovács, International Relations Coordinator, the mentor team worked hard to make the freshmen’s transition as smooth as possible. The programs not only helped students become familiar with Szeged and university life but also strengthened the growing sense of community between mentors and first-year students.
