Prof. Dr. Udvari serves as judge in finals of the 2022 European Ethics Bowl Competition

On Friday 9 December 2022, two representatives from Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Szeged participate in the finals of the 2022 edition of the European Ethics Bowl (EEB) competition held at European Investment Bank Institute in Luxembourg.

Beata Udvari was invited as one of the 3 judges and Timothy Yaw Acheampong as the Faculty coordinator of the EEB.

The 3 finalists, which consisted of a team from ISCTE Business School (Lisbon, Portugal), Université Paris Dauphine (Paris, France) and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Sofia, Bulgaria) debated on the theme Standardisation of higher education and whether it is ethical to shape the future of business and society at large by forcing diversity and inclusion through standardisation at the university level. After the 2-hour long debate, Portugal was declared as the winner by the judges.

The European Ethics Bowl as an international competition was initiated in 2020 to raise awareness of the relevance and complexity of ethical issues in the European context and to improve students’ ability to discuss and debate ethical issues. The competition is open to teams of 3 students who can be either undergraduate or post-graduate students from the same or different faculties from all over Europe represent their respective institutions.
