Freshmen trip 2022

Freshmen trip

On the 8th of October 2022, the Faculty organized its annual Freshmen trip. This time the chosen destination was the wonderful city of Szarvas.

The idea of introducing unique Hungarian traditions, places, and cultures to foreign students date back to 2017. Former trips targeted Ópusztaszer, Szarvas, and Makó. In 2022 the International students got a chance to explore the history of Hungary through the mini versions of its momentous buildings.

The adventure started at the KO building of the faculty, where Dr. Ildiko Pusztai-Varga, Director of International Affairs, and Melinda Kovács, International Relations Coordinator together with mentors of the faculty welcomed the students on Saturday morning. When all 60 people got on the bus the team headed to the Botanical garden of Szarvas.

After enjoying the fantastic scenery and networking on the bus the team divided into 2 smaller groups. One group explored the dendritic collection of Szarvas Arboretum and another group enjoyed the historical buildings of Mini Magyarország. Besides exploring the exhibits, students enjoyed the boat trip with incredible scenery accompanied by historical monuments. Afterward, everyone gathered in the alcove to have pizza, play games, and draw a lottery. Winners of the lottery received presents that consisted of Hungarian sweet treats. Subsequently, participants got back to the Szeged by half past six.

This trip left its participants with lots of good memories and some new friends.

We continued our tradition of welcoming our newly admitted students to the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Business Administration and Management.

Under the guidance of Dr. Ildikó Pusztai-Varga, Director of International Affairs, and Melinda Kovács, International Relations Coordinator, the mentor team worked hard to make the freshmen’s transition as smooth as possible. The programs not only helped students become familiar with Szeged and university life but also strengthened the growing sense of community between mentors and first-year students.
