The University of Szeged Faculty of Economics and Business Administration to join the EFMD community of excellence from 2020

Only ten percent of the world’s universities can say they are members of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), an international non-profit organisation aiming mainly at developing economics training programmes, providing quality control and training socially conscious leaders and economists.

Strengthening internationalisation is one of the main strategies of the University of Szeged Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, including preparations for an international EPAS accreditation. This ultimate goal may now become one step closer due to the faculty becoming a full member of the EFMD organisation from 2020. As only four other Hungarian higher education institutions are members of this global network becoming a member of this community from 2020 is considered a great achievement and a positive reinforcement of the faculty’s efforts.

The primary aim of the EFMD is to aid the development of internal quality control processes and to build connections between higher education institutions offering economics training programmes and partner companies that set maintainable excellence as their most important priority. The organisation also acts as a repository of knowledge where professional expertise is continuously collected. Due to its nature, the organisation also arranges professional conferences, trainings and other thought provoking activities while also supporting the given organisations in constantly monitoring the quality and effect of their performance. The EFMD also functions as an accreditation committee, which allows members to successfully prepare institutional, training programme-related and even digital course accreditations.

We continued our tradition of welcoming our newly admitted students to the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Business Administration and Management.

Under the guidance of Dr. Ildikó Pusztai-Varga, Director of International Affairs, and Melinda Kovács, International Relations Coordinator, the mentor team worked hard to make the freshmen’s transition as smooth as possible. The programs not only helped students become familiar with Szeged and university life but also strengthened the growing sense of community between mentors and first-year students.
