The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration arranged a trip for freshly admitted students to the Szeged Botanical garden. The aim of the trip was to provide new students with the opportunity to get to know each other better; to familiarize with each other and with faculty administration and mentor team. The objective of the tour was also to share information about Hungarian culture, language, and heritage.

Dr Ildikó Pusztai-Varga, PhD, and Dr Beáta Udvari, PhD, lecturers of the Faculty, held a presentation about the Faculty’s best practices in crisis management and the supportive strength of communities in the conference organized by the Tempus Public Foundation.

The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Szeged proudly announces that Professor Beáta Farkas, PhD, submitted her dissertation in order to earn the title of Doctor of Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration together with the Economic Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Szeged Regional Committee and the SZTE Konfucius Institute hosted a book launch on 23 September 2020. The four authors of the book titled “Japanese, Chinese and Korean business culture” presented their book together, with Dr. Ábel Garamhegyi, associate professor at GTK being the moderator.

Our colleague, Dr. Anita Pelle, represents Hungary in one of the Actions of the international organization COST (European Cooperation in Science & Technology). From September 2020, she also acts as the Science Communication Manager of the Action focusing on the financial sector.

The orientation program for the fresh students of the Business Administration and Management BSc, the Tourism and Catering BSc, the International Economy and Business MSc and PhD students in Economics was organised on 1st September 2020.

It is the tradition at the University of Szeged, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration to organize the graduation ceremony in the József Attila Study and Information Centre in the first week of July. The pandemic situation prevented us from being able to organize the event this summer and to celebrate our graduate students in a solemn way.

In this semester, not only teaching, but academic events were also moved online in SZTE. Our university hosted the EUGLOH Summer School between 6-10 July. The main focus of the event were the biomedical data processing and the global aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking was first released in 2019 to evaluate university performance focusing on the impact universities make on some of the major global issues such as economic and social growth and responsible management of the institution. An inspiring presentation on a unique and organic Health Protocol straight from Scandinavia will be presented for the first time in the University of Szeged by Bernadette Varhelyi, primary expert on the subject, International Business Partner of ZINZINO and a former student of the University of Szeged.

The Union was officially established on 5 February 2020 at it’s Inaugural General Meeting held at the University of Szeged Faculty of Economics and Business Administration where the founding members unanimously adopted their Constitution.
