Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt game for first year GTK students

This year again, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration organized a Treasure Hunt for newly admitted students.

Continuing the tradition, the main purpose of the hunt was to provide the opportunity for first year students to get to know each other better and to show them what beauties the city center of Szeged has to offer, and of course, to have fun.

The formulated groups started the program from the faculty building, continuing their trip with the four stations in the city center where the mentors were waiting for them with exciting tasks to solve. During the tour, freshmen could visit the Dóm square, Tiszavirágzás statue, Lion’s fountain and last but not least, the statue of Szent-Györgyi Albert in front of the main building of the university. By solving the tasks, groups could collect points and stamps on their ‘passports’. The very last stop of the day was in Elizabeth Park in Újszeged, where students had a quiz competition which contained interesting questions about the history of the city. The absolute winners of the treasure hunt could win faculty souvenirs.

The program continued with a huge picnic. It is priceless that after the long closure due to Covid-19 pandemic, students and mentors could sit together on the grass, eating pizza and chatting. The program ended with some team building games, with the aim of getting to know each other better and to have fun. The program provided a good opportunity for the students to make new friends, as well as made it possible for the mentors and the administrators of the faculty to get closer to them.

We continued our tradition of welcoming our newly admitted students to the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Business Administration and Management.

Under the guidance of Dr. Ildikó Pusztai-Varga, Director of International Affairs, and Melinda Kovács, International Relations Coordinator, the mentor team worked hard to make the freshmen’s transition as smooth as possible. The programs not only helped students become familiar with Szeged and university life but also strengthened the growing sense of community between mentors and first-year students.
