11th International Week

Ambient Education – Redesigning the Context

11th International Week Szeged, 2-5 April 2019

The 11th International Week Szeged programme took place from 2 to 5 of April, 2019. Various university professors and student representatives of partner institutions arrived in Szeged in order to take part. 28 guest students from Germany, the Check Republic and Romania, 28 guest colleagues from Ireland, France, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Finland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom enjoyed the networking opportunities and social programmes offered by the International Week. 20 mentor students consisting of both Hungarian and international students of the Faculty supported the organizational work. The more than 100 master students of the Faculty and the guest students had the possibility to register for the offered 16 mini-courses.

The Mentor team put together social programmes such as a sightseeing tour around Szeged, a welcome picnic in New Szeged, a night of fun at Campus, and the Gala dinner. During the night in Campus, the guest students and the mentor students gathered and had a quiz game and a speed-blind-dating game. The result of both games was breaking the ice and allowing all the students to come together as one. While the students were enjoying their quiz night, the guest colleagues had the chance to take part in a retro picnic evoking the atmosphere of the 1970s, offering the experience of escape rooms as well.

The main idea of the International Week was to redefine the context of education, which was achieved by organizing mini-courses through the week in the faculty buildings, and then turning the building we study in into an area where we can also enjoy. This was achieved during the Gala Dinner, when the mentor team created thematic rooms, such as a Room of Cultures, a Karaoke room, a Disco room, a Room of Languages, a Pictures of Time room and a Sports room, offering different kinds of experiences to the participants. Within each room, the assigned mentors came up with challenging activities that made the university building seem as though it were also a place for fun.

Overall, the experience of the International Week was memorable and unique. Every participant had the opportunity to meet new people and create memories and friends that will last a lifetime.
