As the first sunny days of Spring have arrived in Szeged, the Spring Festival started at our university.
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration took the stage at the Poetry at Noon event for the fourth time, proving that economists are not only skilled with numbers and profit, but also enthusiasts of culture and the arts.
This time, the Faculty invited the interested audience to a special literary experience, where poetry built bridges between cultures and languages.
First, Imane Iaagoubi (Moroccan), a student of the International Economy and Business master programme performed her own poem titled The Promise of Friendship. Next, Almási Lili (Hungarian), a student of the International Economy and Business master programme recited Imane's poem in Hungarian under the title A barátság ígérete. The translation was co-authored by Almási Lili and Pusztai-Varga Ildikó.
After that, Gál Botond (Hungarian), a student of the International Economy and Business master programme performed Sándor Csoóri's poem Vallomás a városhoz, which Sayyam Kashmiri (Pakistani), a student of the Business Administration and Management bachelor programme interpreted in English as Confession to the City, in George Szirtes' translation.
The event was a great success, since there were many interested students and colleagues, international guests, and teachers from the Faculty who came to enjoy and listen to our talented students. At the end of each poem, the audience applauded with great passion.
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration is glad to participate again in the Spring Festival and the students are really grateful for this given opportunity.
