Every year, our Faculty hosts a very special and unique event - International Week. This year was no exception. In mid-April, we hosted the 18th International Week, an opportunity that all of us can truly be proud of.
We are happy to share that the event welcomed 28 international guests from 10 countries and 14 partner institutions, as well as 3 guest students from our partner, the Technical University of Ostrava. This year, we also had the pleasure of hosting 4 alumni from the BAM BSc program. A total of 110 registered students could choose from 14 mini-courses. A dedicated team of 12 Hungarian and international student mentors supported us at the reception desk and helped with organizing the event. In addition, we held several workshops on topics such as AI, entrepreneurial skills, effective teaching practices, and navigating international accreditations.
As the name suggests, our Faculty became a central hub where participants from diverse backgrounds could connect and interact between their academic activities. Alongside the mini-courses presented by guest lecturers and faculty colleagues, we also organized engaging programs to give participants a deeper insight into Hungarian culture and the city of Szeged.
The week began on Monday with a Szeged walking tour in the afternoon, followed by a welcome reception in the evening. From Tuesday onwards, the mini-courses and workshops took place in the Faculty’s Aula. On the same day, guests also had the opportunity to attend a “Survival Hungarian” mini-course, where they became more familiar with the Hungarian language. On Wednesday evening, participants were invited to a gala dinner by the Tisza riverside. Last but not least, on Thursday, the program concluded with a visit to Napsugaras Tájház, where guests enjoyed a traditional Hungarian cooking experience.
During the week, we also had the chance to get to know the guest students from the University of Ostrava better. Some of the mentors organized games and activities for a casual get-together at a local bar.
This year's event had a special vibe - I feel we welcomed interested colleagues, lively networking took place, and the leisure programs unfolded in a relaxed atmosphere.
We hope to see our international colleagues and guest students again next year with new experiences to share!
