On 24 April 2026, the national round of the European Ethics Bowl debate competition took place at the KO Aula of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, University of Szeged. The event started at 4:00 pm and featured engaging, high-level debates on the central theme: “AUTONOMY vs. GLOBAL INTERESTS.”
The competition aims to raise awareness of complex ethical issues in business and provide students with the opportunity to engage in structured, argument-based debates in English on contemporary dilemmas such as: Should the EU maintain or even tighten ecological production standards, even if this leads to short-term competitive disadvantages?

The winning team of the competition was The Omens, who earned the opportunity to represent Hungary at the international semifinal round.

This year’s European Ethics Bowl once again demonstrated that students are highly capable of engaging with complex ethical issues in an international and interdisciplinary context. The competition not only fosters academic development but also provides valuable international experience for all participants.
